The Giver: Final Thoughts

The Giver -- Utopia

In The Giver, the Community tries to create an environment of Sameness. They gain control of main things, but then relinquish others. By eliminating color, racism is eliminated, but so are rainbows, flower hues and all color.
Imagine you were to create a Utopia (a perfect society). What would you include? exclude? Write about your Utopia. Feel free to comment on each other's societies. BE POSITIVE!!!

The Giver

In The Giver we are introduced to a Community that is very strict and regimented. Although there are families, there is very little emotion. How important is emotion? Is it necessary in the world? What whould it be like without it? Examine the characters in The Giver, and explain how important emotion is and the by products of a lack of emotion.
